  • Cocaine Effects Cocaine effects are extremely detrimental on the body and the consequences related to cocaine effects can eventually lead to permanent damage, addiction and death. While each person who uses this drug reacts to it differently, there are two distinct categories of cocaine effects: short-term effects and long-term effects. Even if a person has only used cocaine once, he/she can experience short-term cocaine effects. Long-term cocaine effects appear after increased periods of use and are dependent upon the duration of time and amount of cocaine that has been consumed. Short-term cocaine effects are noticeable immediately and although they are not always damaging, in some cases they have caused serious bodily damage and death. Deaths related to cocaine effects are often a result of cardiac arrest or seizures and respiratory failure. * Some of the short-term cocaine effects first time users experience includes increased energy, decreased appetite, and increased heart rate and blood pressure. Short-term cocaine effects include: Increased blood pressure Constricted blood vessels Dilated pupils Mental alertness Increased energy Increased heart rate Decreased appetite Increased temperature People who try cocaine often get hooked to the short-term cocaine effects, namely feeling as though they have increased energy. The quick high keeps users feeling energetic and able to endure longer in physical activities. New cocaine users often try cocaine to increase productivity at work and in other areas of their lives so that they can work longer and harder. While these results may seem promising in the beginning, increased tolerance and dangerous life choices often follow repeated cocaine use. One cocaine effect, appetite suppression, is very popular for people looking to lose weight or maintain a low weight. Fashion models have been known to use cocaine in order to stay thin. Cocaine users often go days without eating and if this behavior is continued it can lead to addiction. Increased heart rate, blood pressure, constricted blood vessels, dilated pupils, and increased temperature are all short-term physiological cocaine effects. When taken in large quantities, cocaine will intensify the user's high and may cause violent and erratic behavior on the part of the user. Long-tem cocaine effects are noticeable as cocaine abuse continues and tolerance builds. Since cocaine is a highly addictive drug, it can lead to major medical complications and health problems. Some of the these complications include heart disease, heart attacks, respiratory failure, strokes, seizures, and gastrointestinal problems. Other physical symptoms include convulsions, nausea, blurred vision, chest pain, fever, muscle spasms, and coma. As the habit of using cocaine becomes increasingly important, behavior such as lying, heating, stealing, absenteeism at work and denying the use of cocaine, is an evident side effect. While these behaviors are not directly related to the use of cocaine, these cocaine effects are often present due to the lifestyle of the addict. Other long-term cocaine effects include: Addiction Paranoia Irritability Restlessness Auditory hallucinations Mood disturbances With continued use, many cocaine addicts develop a higher tolerance for the drug over time. Addicts are also said to "chase the high"; meaning they continue to use cocaine seeking the feeling they felt the first time they used it. For people addicted to cocaine and cocaine effects, this high will never again be felt in the same way, and this addiction can lead to insanity and death. * Source: National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) I think it is a scourge on humanity and we should do everything we can to stamp it out of existence. Yes, I think it's as bad as people make it out to be and then some.
  • All chemical effects are different for different people. Emotional consequences are more a result of the type of person the user is, rather than the drug directly. Yes, a stimulant makes a person hyperactive, easily irritated, increases their heart rate, restless, suppresses their appetite, etc. But, this is not a cocaine-exclusive reaction. Caffeine does the same thing. All stimulants do. Extreme exposure/ingestion of any chemical can cause serious and permanent physical damage to the body. This is why all psychologically altering substance should be used with caution and care, and a user should never allow it to interrupt their normal, happy lifestyle. Also, The answer given to you by "idne" was ripped off from a website for cocaine-addiction counseling: http://www.cocaine-effects.com/ You can't always trust information that is being published by an organization working to oppose something. I could give you a lot of scary information on the long-term side-effects of anything, and while it might be somewhat true, it still may not be accurate. I come from a long history of both drug use and chemical research. Chemical "problems" are rooted in personal psychology, rarely physical habit.
  • insane? haha, okay. it all depends on your personality and how often you do it. if you are a relatively normal person and want to experiment with cocaine, chances are, you will be just fine. i have done it a few times, am not addicted, always have a fun evening of partying when doing and wake up with a bit of a stuffy nose, thats all. i am a full time student, make great grades, have a high profile job in the fashion industry, have an amazing relationship with a boyfriend of eight years and i maintain this lifestyle while occasionally doing cocaine.....its really not all that big of deal. obviously anyone who is doing it everyday all day is going to have a problem but for the most part, unless you have tried it you really shouldnt be saying anything.
  • yeah its not pretty, growing up in the inner city i have seen and can tell you a lot of bad stuff,my list would be as long as idne..and please dont get back with him if it makes you steal from your own mom,and take from your own kids, you know its some baddddd stuff. Peace...
  • I just found out that my boyfriends is doing it too, i wasn't sure but he was going crazy and I could tell, he is just so irritable he doesn't hang out with me no more, and when we go out he takes like 10 bathroom brakes and leaves me alone ... so yeah is not good specially if you love someone that is doing it.. so don't get back with him.. Im not with my Bf .. no more I have more important things to do
  • Is it possible to use cocaine without serious repercussions? Sure. There are some people I wanted to ask about whether cocaine can hurt you, with or without other drugs, or perhaps if you have some manner of cardiac problems. Here's a list of people who aren't taking my phone calls to tell me: Jon Entwistle (bassist, The Who) Kevin DuBrow (singer, Quiet Riot) Chris Farley (former Saturday Night Live cast member) John Belushi (SNL) Ken Caminiti (former baseball player) River Phoenix (actor) Natasha Collins (British TV preseneter) Katy French (Irish model) Bam Bam Bigelow (professional wrestler) Bobby Hatfield (singer, Righteous Brothers) Ike Turner (singer, musician) Len Bias (basketball player). Being dead apparently prevents a person from accepting phone calls from me.
  • i'm not sure about the side effects but i wanna try it & i'm kinda nervous!! i've done meth b4 but never cocaine. i wasn't the one who got addicted to meth so i think i'll be pretty safe with cocaine! right? i don't know i'm so confused about the whole thing!
  • My boyfriend was on it, but he's not now. He said it got so bad that he wouldn't want to do anything. And that he would snort so much that his nose would start bleeding. They say if you kiss a person that has snorted your tongue will go numb. We haven't kissed in a while but I'm not jumping to conclusions.
  • Alot of the time its down too how much your taking and over what period, I used to take lots of E's and speed years ago but havent done now for many years (I grew up) generaly I go out 2 -3 times a month and take around half a gramme of coke on each occasion. I do have freinds that take it 2 - 3 times a week and they are still holding it down, not that it deserves praise.... After a phew pints it always seems like a great idea.. As for any problems, little bit of anxiety but thats about it nothing more that I dont get from a bloody bad hang over, the only craving is a good fry up and a couple of pain killers..... I think it depends how strong you are as a person as to how you control it... This is just my opinion
  • Naw, its not bad....having a heart attack at 25 is a good thing. It couldn't have been the coke that destroyed the lives of Mackenzie Phillips, Leif Garrett, Dana Plato, Todd Bridges, Fred Berry, Danny Bonaduce and so many others, some of which are dying in their fifties (if they made it that far) because of the toll the drug took on their bodies. When I was a teenager and young twenties, it seemed that every other star was tanking from either alcohol or cocaine. Some lived to tell about it. Many didn't. Those who did survive it usually ended up broke and homeless.
  • While I'm neither much of an authority, nor a user, I think it's possible that some can use it without harm, or little harm. Consider: (1) Most stories about coke, like most stories in general, focus on the bad and sensational. (2) The War on Drugs keep prices high and likely many of the abuses associated with the drug. (3) Millions of South Americans have been chewing on coca leaves for centuries. (4) I remember reading of a 86 year old who took it for about 50 years for some nasal/throat/cough problems without apparent ill effect.
  • i had a big night on coke last night, and have found that each time i have used lately the effects have got worse. Last night i suffered from extreme paranoia, contemplated suicide and a panic attack because i thought my heart was giving in! i'm 37 and from the e generation and managed to talk myself round. Never ever again!
  • I went out last night and ended up partaking in some cocaine use, i was also drinking i had about 4 pints of lager and 3 bacardi and cokes. I have had cocaine twice before but today is the worst i have felt after using it. My partner also used it last night and she is completley fine, we both had about the same amount. Today i feel totally spaced out, i look awful and i've had a headache all day. I'm also finding i can't taste my food very much. Anyone else had similar experiences?
  • its not as bad as people make out and not necessary relationships are effected by it unless u are bang on it and u both don't understand each others needs an r different flex's.if ur 2 people wit both positive an good attitude's and a good strong relationship then you know when enough is enough ps .. in some cases cocaine highlights your personality. if you are of the weak mind set then your prone to fall by the wayside.
  • its a life changing drug.. youll loose weight it destroys your brain heart livers and kidneys. it basically tears down your whole nervous system
  • Cocaine is bad, no two ways about it! It can cause depression and debt and in the worst cases, death through overdose or heart attack. A lot of people don't realise what they are getting themselves into as it makes you feel great and you dont get a come down that is more common with pills. But it can cause serious problems psychologically with depression etc.
  • sore throat, stuffy nose, hyper, high anxiety, serious, and everything is either too fast, or too slow.. long term effects if you do it over and over.. you become stupid, start to be ocd or develop other personality disorders, insomnia, weight loss.. its a drug that only certain people should be aloud to try..i got addicted to it, now i just do it occaisionally..only because i started smoking weed and doing other drugs and im broke. but anyhow if you do it once, you might do it again, you might now..it depends on how much you do.. if you do a bump..you'll be fine..if you do a rail..youll like it but it might be harsh on the nose.. ive only had 2 nosebleeds.. one was because my nose was sensitive and i was spray painting, and the other was not too long ago randomly. shit happens. oh and your heart gets pretty fucked up.. my heart beats 47 beats per minute avg.. but when im hyper or w/e its like 60... almost 3 times as low as what kids my age, heart should be. so.. dont do it.. i knew when i did it i was going to get hooked.
  • cocaine is fucking lame. you can easily get WAY higher and have a better time buying $10 worth of mush, a couple hits of acid or going and jerking off. don't do it. its just not worth it. i've done coke a lot but have never paid for it, and never ever would.
  • Probably the worst side effect of cocaine the intense desire to do more at whatever cost. Cocaine is very bad because it is good. Cocaine will make you feel like you just won the world series. Bad part is a short time latter you realize you didn't and you are $100 poorer. It is very easy to take a liking to cocaine. Each line is a spin of the addiction chamber.
  • Coke, personally, wasn't as bad as a lot of people made it out to be. It could just be because I got severely wrapped up in meth instead of coke, but it ultimately depends on the person's brain function. Each person has a "preference" for which drug to use, whether it be no drugs, heroine, coke, opiates, benzos, pot, whatever. Whatever your preference is is due to the reaction that the neurotransmitters have in your brain. Therefore, many possibilities exist as to whether you will enjoy the buzz, hate the buzz, or use it on a here-and-there basis. Not every drug is personally addictive to everybody.
  • it sucks bad!!! the come down is the worst ever... dont get me wrong i love cocaine but i hate comin down...
  • I think its worse, I went out at the week end and I've had to sleep with my mouth open because I can't breathe and my nose and eyes keep streaming, I keep sneezing, I feel like crap, didn't even feel that good when I was taking it, I felt really unsociable. Not worth it!!!
  • I've seen people use coke with no problems whatsoever and Ive seen people die. I saw one guy become so paranoid he ran down a busy street with a butcher knife swearing people were trying to kill him. It depends on how much, how long, quality, how much money you have to spend or steal... lots of variables.. It can be a nice fun time or it can be your worse nightmare depending on you. I used to run it intravenously with heroin.. I'm still alive and now clean..
  • If you have problems with the overuse of any drug, be it alcohol, tobacco, pot, speed, then coke will be a problem. It is fun at first for most, but can get out of hand. It's easy to do too much and start behaving in ways you would not have thought you would behave. It can initiate tremendous violence. Unless you just have to, I would stay away. I think it could make you immediately "hooked". In the end, sobriety is best for most of us. I've heard that Mick Jagger tries everything, but only once. I can't do that.
  • I HAVE A HUSBAND THATS A WEEKEND USER BUT HAS BEEN FOR YEARS NOW THAT OUR FAMILY HAS NOTICE THE DIFFERENCE IN HIM LIKE THE DAY AFTER THE HIGH HE TALKS TO HIMSELF OUT LOUD.WHAT A WASTE OF A MAN.....I have done the drug before but please believe it feel good to be drug free and yes it"s possible.......
  • Coke is the only thing keeping me alive. I would have committed suicide last year, but I did a couple of lines of coke and realized that life is great, and so was I. I saw the potential in myself and in my life, and moved forward with everything. Since then, I've never been a happier person. And I haven't touched coke in over a year.
