  • Whoever arrives first at a four-way stop intersection has the right of way. In your example, the car turning left would have the right of way. Just to add - if they arrived at the same time, however, the car going straight would have the right of way. If cars arrive at the same time from adjacent roads, the car to the right has the the right of way.
  • Vehicle going straight ahead always has the right of way at a four way stop, unless the other vehicle is an emergency vehicle. then, all vehicles shall yield. also, when traffic lights are out at an intersection, the intersection shall be treated as a four way stop. just thought you would like to know. end
  • If you have two vehicles approaching an intersection from opposite directions at the same time and one is going strait while the other is turning left, then the person turning left should yield the right of way to the car that is going straight. The reason for this is that the person who is turning must cross one or more lanes of traffic in order to complete his turn whereas the person going straight continuing in just a single lane of traffic. Note, in this instance, it does not matter whether we are talking about a four way stop or not here. Coming from opposite directions, both cars are likely to encounter the same traffic control devices (may be stop signs, may not be anything). Whatever the situation, assuming all else is equal, then the car that is turning should yield to a car that is going straight.
  • the person who is going straight has the right of way.
  • Man, that is a good question-a rare find here nowadays. Everyone I know and have shared the 4-way stop experience with has always treated that sort of intersection as a 'first come-first go' thing. If the cars opposing each other arrive at the intersection at the same time, the straight through one would go first for sure. I wonder if this is actually the way it is SUPPOSED to be done, though?
  • from a tollway, i was about to go the other line going south running about 5 to 10 kph, have already crossed a car going north in full stop when a motorcycle suddenly also going north appeared and hit my car head-on. whose fault was it?
  • please help thank u
  • kkk what if both the cars are going staright and they stop at the same time from AND THEY ARE OPPPOSING EACH OTHER, HOW DO THE DRIVERS KNOW WHO IS ON THE RIGHT BECAUSE BOTH THE DRIVERS WILL THINK THE ARE THE ONE ON THE RIGHT
  • They'd both start moving forward into the intersection at the same time, but the one turning left should let the person going straight go by before turning.
  • According to Georgia law when I took my written test, the car to the right of you always goes first regardless who got there first. Rarely does it work that way in real life, though. Most of the time we go by who arrived first. AMBULANCES AND OTHER EMERGENCY VEHICLES HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY AT ALL TIMES!! Please, people!! If an emergency vehicle comes up behind you pull your car over to the right hand side of the road!!!!
  • at a four way stop the person turning left but at a light the person going strait if its green for them
