im a donor for everything...the way i see it is when i die i have no use for my blood or organs so why let them go to waste when someone else needs them?
-
At my old job I did it. My new job you have to be in New York City at headquaters to do it and make your own way there if you want to be a donor. I have never been able to be there at the right time.

No because I have had hepatitus. But i would like to be

Yes I am. I'm a healthy human being, who stands to lose very little function if I do donate, and what I do lose is almost made up by the next day. However, the small sacrifice I make (oh no, I won't be able to go to the gym tonight) is more than offset by the massive difference I can be making to a recipient, their friends and family, the people in life that that person benefits themselves, etc etc. Conside this. I donate some blood. I can't drink alcohol that night, so I stay in, give my liver a rest, my wallet a night off and my clothes don't stink the next day. My blood goes into somebody else. It allows them to have an operation, say, or saves their life following some trauma. This allows them to continue to live thier life/function better than they could without medical intervention. Their family hgets to spend more time with them, as do their friends. The patient might be a doctor themselves, or a mechanic, or a police officer, and my small donation helps them to continue to be a valid and useful member of society, potentially helping hundreds of others in the future. All because I took a small amount of time to toddle over the a bed, lie down for 10mins, bleed a little and have a biscuit or three afterwards. Sounds good to me.

I am not for mystical reasons.
-
I used to donate when I was at University, but I can't now because I have Chronic Fatigue.
-
no. no one is getting my blood except my future husband who will be a vampire. blood is precious. no one is getting mine and i don't want anyone else's. let me die...and don't embalm me either. that goes for eyeballs, bone marrow, and organs. when i die, they're coming with me. my body is the only thing i will own, undoubtedly forever. i can't help you if you don't have a leg. thats just the cards you were delt. what if i come back from the dead...i'll have no eyes.
-
I was and still have my donor card but am now no longer allowed to give blood for health reasons,
-
I used to, but can't anymore because of my meds.
-
I have been, I have a common type so usually they dont want me, also I havent recently because I have gotten new tattoos...
-
I give blood every time I can. If I don't I get 40-50 calls from the Red Cross asking me to donate.
-
I cannot donate blood. I have either had a recent piercing or tattoo (tells a lot about my life) or I am underweight... you have to be 115 lbs and I haven't been over that since I was 16.
-
i have never been allowed to. for the longest time i would walk in and they would turn me away for my weight. then i was getting pierced or tattooed regularly. i haven't had any work done in almost 2 years and i'm heavier now so i suppose i could.
-
No, I'm terrified of needles.
-
No I don't, I don't weigh enough to give blood.
-
No, it may seem selfish, but I have a deathly fear of those needles. I tried going this year, and made it all the way up to the person actually taking the needle out and readying it, and then I started to feel really faint. I was falling over in the seat and everything and they told me that it would be best if I just waited until I were more comfortable. It was really embarrassing.
