They are both equally good colours, but they both have their place. For example, silver is a dressier colour and is more suited for traditional suit colours like navy, blue, black and grey. White gold is more appropriate for earthy tones like browns and olive green. It should also be noted that traditionally speaking, gold was an appropriate colour for day wear while silver was reserved for evening wear. You should also try to co-ordinate all metal colours, if possible. For example, have a silver watch, silver belt buckle and silver ring. This is recommended, but mixing gold and silver among metal items wouldn't be considered a faux pas.

Another great idea is to go with a two-tone watch (that is gold/silver combined). This matches any jewellery or colour pallet you wish to wear. Most well-known watchmakers (e.g.-Bulova,Seiko,Longines,Omega) already make several styles in two-tone metal band watches.

Gold and silver are not colors, they are metals. If you are going to buy a band, then whether or not it's gold or silver or stainless steel or platinum, you should buy a band that is solid gold, silver, etc. Plating is cheesy and comes off. Stainless steel is my recommendation.

Silver/steel jewelry looks younger and more hip. A brushed texture looks even edgier and cool. Shiny looks cold and industrial. Gold tends to be look older and mature.
-
I think gold is tacky.
-
For some reason I think the silver watches look more expensive and the finish doesn't wear as do the gold ones.
-
I prefer silver or more specifically, polished nickel.
-
I like white gold :)

Personally, I like silver tones. It depends on your skintone which would look best on you.
-
Silvery. Polished nickel or whatever you end up with. Gold tends to make one look like an Italian Mobster.

Silver!

it depends on your complexion, don't you think so?

The answer is very simple; you should wear the metal that goes with your skin tone!!! are you a warm tone? (olive, a slight yellow undertone? then wear gold, and wear it all your life; it'll always look good on you!! Or are you a cool skintone? then wear silver!! easy, huh???

It usually depends on your skin colour. Silver is better for fair skins, gold for tanned skins.
-
