  • G'day Anonymous, Thank you for your question. There are a range of drugs that can interfere with the pill although Benadryl does not seem to be amongst them. According to Wikipedia "Some drugs reduce the effect of the Pill and can cause breakthrough bleeding, or increased chance of pregnancy. These include drugs such as rifampicin, barbiturates, phenytoin and carbamazepine. In addition cautions are given about broad spectrum antibiotics, such as ampicillin and doxycycline, which may cause problems "by impairing the bacterial flora responsible for recycling ethinylestradiol from the large bowel" (BNF 2003). St John's Wort can also cause problems. I have seen reliable sources suggest that people take Benadryl if they suffer from nausea as a result of taking emergency contraception so it certainly doesn't interfere with that. I would speak with your doctor about your concerns. You might want to use other contraceptives in the meantime if you have any concerns. I have attached sources for your reference. • ive taken about 5 different types of birth controll pills and have taken pills such as benadryl, iprobufren, codein, penacillin, and a bladder infection pill, non of them ever got in the way of the pill, i dont think you have anything to worry about, however if you do see changes, call your doctor immediately, there could be something majorly wrong. For instance, I would keep going on and off the pill for months at a time and just keep skipping pills, and it resulted in me loosing my right ovarie and having a hystorectomy meaning they take out all your female organs...so that wasnt to good, and if you decide to get off the pill tell your doctor so he can ease you off the pill. Anywho just be careful and you dont really have anything to worry about
