  • If I get caught, I go to jail and get to eat, then the rest of the family starves.. that is kind of selfish isn't it? I truly do believe stealing is wrong and would not want to do it. What prompted this wild question?
  • No. In the first place, if I got caught (which you say is inevitable) the purpose wouldn't be served - my family would still be hungry. In addition to that, it is more honorable to beg than to steal. If I beggged food, at least I would at some point have the opportunity to repay the kindness shown to my family. Stealing is dishonorable and someone always suffers for it.
  • As a last resort, of course I would.
  • Yes, only at last resort. I would even if I got caught, because I am willing to do anything for those who love me.
  • If it was absolutely the last resort...of course I would. Who could allow their kids to go hungry?
  • Aye..beats the heck out of starving.
  • There is absolutely no excuse for stealing food for a family. food stamps are plentiful and easy to obtain. matter of fact, the new food stamps will be a debit card. this will eliminate fraud. Also, homeless shelters have plenty of food and are willing to share. Committing a crime of stealing food, will only compound the situation. The food stamps and food are out there. all you have to do is apply for them.
  • If it was a very dire situation like a nuclear war and all of the infrastructure was destroyed or something like that. Other wise, I have friends and family to help me when I need it; as well as, the government should it come to that.
  • This is really a good question. Most of us would never dream of stealing ANYTHING, but, the question is, as a last resort. I think this probably means that your friends and family are in the same shape. It's not that far-fetched to see this happening. With wars, world poverty and hunger, un-curable diseases, etc., and with the way most of the world's economy relies on oil, (which could run out very soon), most countries would be in pretty crappy shape if the general population couldn't drive to work to get money to pay their bills. But, to answer the question, YES, I would do anything short of harming another person, to make sure my family could eat. BUT, only in a dire situation, (which means pretty much everyone else would have to be in the same situation).
  • I would do anything to see my family survive. I wouldnt be proud of the theft however.
  • Most definitely. In fact, not only would I steal for my family, but also for my friends and perhaps even some acquaintances, and I would feel no regret; I'm not just going to let people starve on me. I have no moral objections to stealing as a last resort.
  • Yes but no guns, or any other weapon.
  • In a shot.
  • No because I would be so starving I wouldn't have a weapon. If I did, I would sell it.
  • No. Depending on where you live, of course, there are always places one can turn to for assistance. Here in the States most churches are able to provide some type of assistance, even for non-members; plus, in most places there are various food banks available to turn to for help. Note here, if AB'ers in the States can possibly do so, please donate nonperishables and/or money to your local food bank...consider it a form of paying it forward for your past blessings and fortune.
