  • That is a pretty new car to have old car problems, are you sure that voltage is always supplied? Most cars these days do not have the radio wired independent of the ignition switch. This is to keep the battery from discharging if radio was left on. Most radios have more than one twelve volt connecting wire at the plug however at the connecting harness this can be fixed to a single twelve volt supply to run to the twelve volt terminal block so that the radio is alwasy live. Alway use an inline fuse when powering your automobile electronics. Refer to the manufactuers specifications when determining fuse requirements. Also keep in mind that sometimes radio lighting may also be needed to see your display which may be connected to the dimmer switch circuit. Perhaps a local car audio or Ford dealer can print you out a pinout diagram for the radios rear connector. You should be able to take from there.
  • Most cars have two +12V wires; one constant and one wired to the ignition. I have had a few older VW Golfs that lack that second wire though, so when installing a radio you have to wire both + leads from the radio to the single + wire in the car. A side-effect is that the radio can be operated without the key in the ignition. I would doublecheck the wiring first off. You want the blue wire with the RED stripe, not the blue wire with the BLACK stripe, or either red wire.
