What's stopping people using sockpuppet accounts to boost their AB rating?

    Nothing . Cheaters will out if they want to, won't they? Who cares? Points are meaningless. All they convey is that someone spends tons of time on AB and talks a lot and the AB members are very kind to reward the talking a lot. It isn't brain surgery or finding a cure of cancer or bringing about world peace. It isn't the achievement of the person at all...it is the collective kindness of AB members. It doesn't indicate specialness or better than or smarter than or anything about the person collecting the points. So sockpuppet away. It means nothing! Happy Tuesday ac! :)

    That sounds really sad, if a Bagger would go to those sort of lengths to get a few more worthless points, it was only three weeks ago that I checked the leader boards, but I did notice that I was not pulling my weight by asking questions.

    Probably nothing. It seems kind of silly though. I don't remember the last time I looked at my points and really don't care about them. I've only asked two questions on AB since I've been here, I prefer answering and commenting. Every time I think of a question I search it and find it or a variation of it has already been asked so I just don't ask questions. I honestly didn't know that added to your point value.

    Nothing but us ABers who soon pick up on these "sock accounts", these people who do this fall into the same trap over and over again with the way they respond to Q&A's. The same phrases and words in the make up of the replies soon alerts ABers that something stinks so they are normally found out pretty quickly and then the CL's can take action once informed of this .
