He was a musician, not a leader.

He wasn't a leader. The Beatles imploded when Brian Epstein died, simply because neither John nor Paul had the leadership skills to guide the band forward in his absence.

  • He may have inspired people but he wasn't a great leader. I don't believe that he was inclined to adopt the kind of structured view of society where those skills really mattered.

Great musical skills, high intelligence and a lot of charisma.

Leader? Hmm, I must have missed that while growing up.

He gave peace a chance. I just recently saw him in the 6th and last reel of Jonas Mekas' Walden, and absolutely loved how Mekas' editing skills complimented the beat to Give Peace a Chance with footage of John and Yoko at a Bed - In in Quebec I think it was. That guy who killed Lennon who was obsessed with The Catcher in the Rye, he may have thought at one time that he was a leader, and when he saw differently, it may have triggered him to doing what ought not to have been done.

Honestly I have no idea. I think there are people who "grab" you at certain times in your life and apparently he "grabbed" a lot of people all at once. Do I think he was talented? Of course I do. Do I think he was more talented than others of his time? No. But he didn't particularly "grab" me at that time. In retrospect I think he has been valued more and worshipped more than he was when he was alive. Sometimes that happens to people. Happy Tuesday pleasent! :)
