It's not quite true, but almost

Peach pits contain a number of chemicals called “cyanogenetic glycosides”.  These are not cyanide, but when processed in the human digestive system, cyanide is one of the resulting by-products.

One of these cyanogenetic glycosides is amygdalin, which is the same chemical that was once sold as a fraudulent cancer “cure”, under the names “laetrile” and “vitamin B-17”.  The only way in which this substance was ever actually shown to have prevented anyone from dying of cancer was to cause them to die first from cyanide poisoning.

Peach pits and apricot pits are about the same. Yes there is cyanide in them but it is the type that will not hurt you. It is only poisonous to cancer cells. I had cancer myself (stage 3) four years ago. I had surgery because it was blocking my colon but it was in my lymphnodes also. I have been eating a lot of apricot seeds everyday for four years. I have no problems with side effects and the cancer is gone. If peach pit or apricot pits were poisonous to your body I would have been dead a long time ago. In fact, I believe, if I wasn't taking those seeds I would be dead. Those pits kept me alive. The FDA don't want you to know this though and may even delete this message. There are thousands of people that have been cured of cancer from laetrile treatment which is derived from apricot seeds.

The answer is yes, it contains Cyanide but its bound to another molecule. No, I can't recall the name of the molecule but I'm not making it up. This bond is broken in the body by the coating that covers cancerous cells, therefore selectively killing off cancer cells. Whether its the cure for cancer or not isn't my place to say, I'm not a molecular biologist, but I know many of the deadly diseases in the past have been curable by vitamins. Scurvy for instance was caused by a deficiency of Vitamin C. Just a little food for thought.

Dont know about peach pits, but i do know apple seeds definately do, i think it would take about 600 crushed up apple seeds taken in in like an hour to get a lethal dose, so homemade applesauce or those fruit juicers that u can just put in the whole fruit is good to go, you wont die.

Sort of, only when the pits are digested does the chemical inside the pits turn into actual cyanide.

There have been cases of people crushing the pits and adding them to food to commit suicide, however the amount needed is rather large.

According to our metallurgy professor way back when, yes. I seem to remember they can be used in some kind of steel making.

I find this all scary, because my adult dogs each the immature peaches that have fallen off the tree. They generally eat the pit and all. The pit is very soft when the peaches are immature. Can this also be a danger? I am very worried. They have been doing this for a couple of years now. I never knew there was any danger in it.

For all i can find they do however just like nearly any other chemical the body can handle small amounts. It is doubtfull that one seed would hurt you. In large amounts yes it can kill.
As far as the "fraudulent" cancer cure i know of people that use it for just that.
Just dont ask a doctor its a natural cure so they cant tell you about it anyway by law.
