The population of West Bend, Wisconsin was 28,152 at the 2000 census. Founded by highway commissioner Byron Kilbourn, the city is located the next to the West Bend (town), WisconsinTown of West Bend, the Trenton, Washington County, WisconsinTown of Trenton, and the Polk, WisconsinTown of Polk. The city consists of primarily German heritage, and is predominantly middle-class. The name "West Bend" originates from the western-most bend of the Milwaukee River that runs through the city. Just recently, the city has seen large jumps in commercial and residential growth, with Paradise Drive, Main Street and Washington Street seeing the most commercial activity.
