  • Yes, it can cause permanent damage, and the following are side effects : "Brain imaging research in humans indicates that Ecstasy causes injury to the brain, affecting neurons that use the chemical serotonin to communicate with other neurons. The serotonin system plays a direct role in regulating mood, aggression, sexual activity, sleep, and sensitivity to pain. Many of the side effects users face with Ecstasy use are similar to those found with the use of cocaine and amphetamines: Psychological Ecstasy side effects, including confusion, depression, sleep problems, drug craving, severe anxiety, and paranoia - during and sometimes weeks after taking Ecstasy. Physical Ecstasy side effects such as muscle tension, involuntary teeth clenching, nausea, blurred vision, rapid eye movement, faintness, and chills or sweating. Increases in heart rate and blood pressure, a special risk for people with circulatory or heart disease. Also, there is evidence that people who develop a rash that looks like acne after using Ecstasy may be risking severe side effects, including liver damage, if they continue to use the drug. Research links Ecstasy use to long-term damage to those parts of the brain critical to thought and memory. One study, in primates, showed that exposure to Ecstasy for 4 days caused brain damage that was evident 6 to 7 years later. " source: http://www.ecstasy.ws/e-side-effects.htm
  • Without a doubt, it causes permanent damage and alters personality characteristics of an individual for the worse and longterm. The personality alterations are pretty bad, often not readily observed, but overall the individual's ability to focus or concentrate is diminished, more unstable, depressed, worried... ...the list goes on. From personal conversations with those who have tried it, they have told me it is one of the worse drugs out there on long-term adverse mental affects. And what is abhorrent is that psychiatric institutions used to administer this drug. One should also know that drugs (along with toxins, preservatives, etc.) become lodged in the fatty cells of the body. Later they will circulate around the body and become lodged again... ...it is a bad trip. LSD was noted for this because the individual could recognize having a trip years after taking the drug. This is the case though for most chemicals that are not made for a body -- they recirculate. If someone who has done a lot of drugs (street or otherwise), you can count on predicting that person will easily become agitated when working up a sweat.
  • In response not only to your question, but also to Thommy's answer, it is correct to assume that ecstasy causes damage to a person's brain. Ecstasy can actually eat away at the brain matter of a healthy person and cause holes in brain matter in the most extreme cases. It causes your brain to be flooded with seratonin, thus producing the euphoric sensation. If you do take ecstasy, you should replenish your seratonin supply with a supplement you can find over the counter. This change in the supply of seratonin is what causes personality changes in a person who has used ecstasy. These effects, however are not long term and the person will return to normal once their brain has had a chance to replenish their seratonin levels. As for Thommy's comment on drugs being stored in fatty cells, this is not entirely correct. For certain drugs it is correct, marijuana being the main fat soluble drug used today. However, LSD, Speed and ecstasy are all water soluble drugs and are completely out of your system in 2 to 5 days. That is why marijuana will show up on a tox-screen up to a month and a half after it was last used (when a urine sample is taken). LSD, Speed, and ecstasy are impossible to detect after five days. LSD causes what they would call flashbacks because of the way the drug actually causes it's euphoric sensation. LSD actually causes your brain to form blisters that are full of the chemicals found in the drug. When these blisters pop, the brain will absorb the chemicals, which make you high. Flashbacks are when some of these blisters fail to pop and years later are finally popped by somekind of force or blow to the head, sending those chemicals still remaining in the blister onto your brain. That is why, many of these "flashbacks" were reported after the person bumped their head or otherwise jolted their brain in their skull.
  • Yes it can cause permanent damage. I know this because i have experienced changes since i took it last. Im 28 now and for the last 8 years i have experienced things i wouldnt wish on my worst enemy. I took half an e with my friend 2 months away from my 21st birthday one night. The next morning i woke up and immediately realised something was wrong. I felt like i had a really bad flu, but couldnt quite place it. I have since realised that bad "flu" is chronic depression and have suffered to this day. Also 20 minutes after waking up i suffered my first anxiety attack. My first but not my last as i was to have these every few minutes. Actually anxiety is a very misleading term because it doesnt do it justice. Take every bad feeling youve ever had like fear, anger, jealousy etc and multiply that by a thousand and your about there. These attack my brain in waves. Other things like my eyesight and balance have been affected, but they are small problems compared to my depression and anxiety. This happened overnight as i said and i personally blame ecstasy for this. If half an e can do this to me it could do it to anyone. The odds are probably quite high for it happening to you but dont take the chance.
  • Let's get some facts straight: http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/mdma/mdma_faq.shtml#conclusion Rumor Control There is a lot of misinformation out there about MDMA. Here are some commonly heard rumors and facts about them. Rumor #1: MDMA drains your spinal fluid, ruins your back, etc. Untrue. This urban legend apparently started because some pharmacological studies are done by giving subjects MDMA, then withdrawing cerebrospinal fluid samples for analysis via spinal tap. It is "MDMA research", not "MDMA" that may drain your spinal fluid! Rumor #2: MDMA causes brain damage similar to Parkinson's disease Unfortunately the MDMA & Parkinson's issue became much more complicated between 1999 and 2003. Most simply, there is very little evidence that MDMA causes Parkinson's disease and there is evidence to suggest it does not. First, this rumor was initially cited in the late 1980s because of the confusion between MDMA and MPTP. One of the reasons that Parkinson's is associated in people's minds with "designer drugs" is that in the mid 1980s, a toxic contaminant in a batch of a synthetic analog of Demerol caused massive dopamine-system damage to the users unfortunate enough to try it. Many users started having Parkinson's symptoms and the US Congress rushed to pass the Analogue Drug Laws partially as a result of the media frenzy surrounding this tragedy. The contaminant is called MPTP and more information about this can be found in the Erowid MPTP Vault. Second, in 1999 the first medical case report of an ecstasy user developing Parkinson's symptoms was reported by Mintzer. Following this case report, there were two additional case reports of ecstasy users who developed Parkinson's-like symptoms (Kuniyoshi 2003, O'Suilleabhain 2003) but none of the reports included any evidence of causal connection. The difficulty here is that there are literally tens of millions of ecstasy users in the U.S. alone, most of them young, and simply finding a small number of these who develop a rare disease cannot be assumed to indicate a causal relationship between the behavior and the disease. This also does not mean there is no connection, simply that it remains very speculative. Third, in a paper published in 2002 in the prestigous journal Science, one of the key ecstasy brain damage researchers, George Ricaurte, reported that "a single dose of ecstasy" could cause Parkinson's. This 'fact' was trumpeted by virtually every news outlet in the U.S. and was big news. Unfortunately for Dr. Ricaurte, it was soon discovered that he had accidentally given the monkeys methamphetamine instead of MDMA and methamphetamine is a known dopamine neurotoxin. It is important to note, however, that methamphetamine has NOT been found to cause Parkinson's disease, further damaging Ricaurte's credibility. For more information about this, see Major Error in Ecstasy Research, by Erowid. For an overview of this issue, please see the 2003 paper by Kish: What Is the Evidence That Ecstasy (MDMA) Can Cause Parkinson's Disease?.
  • I went through an extended period of ecstasy use several years ago, and now, at almost 40 years old, I can feel no adverse side-effects.
  • Ecstacy causing big side effects. Ive been taking the pill for 8 months and the last 2 or 3 ive been taking it several times a week. Im starting to loose my hair, Ive had panic attacks, anxiety attacks, and am now suffering from depression. Ive been in the hospital 4 times in the last 2 weeks. My advice stay away from it! I wouldnt want anyone to go thro what i have. Ive also lost many friends and my self respect from it.
  • I took 'e' about 3 days ago, it was only one pill, but i never had the bad comedown. I was rolling really well and had a blast with my glow lights. lol. I am an athletic person, ive gone to state in swimming throughout highschool but this summer ive started experimenting with drugs. However, i havent noticed any decrease in physical activity or memory problems, (i have a 3.98 GPA). I am also a heavy marijuana smoker, approximately 2-3 bowls a day. I was wondering why the drugs ive used have never had any negative effects on me. Plus, is there a way to manufacture 'e' so it only has good qualities and no negative effects?
  • i would never put this crap into my body, alcohol is the worst poison i would subject my body to. who knows what is in this stuff, at least alcohol is made in a controlled environment
  • i have rolled twice now, only at raves and about three weeks apart. the last time i took x was about 4 weeks back. honestly the only thing i have noticed is that i cannot remember much from both nights that i took it. I havent had any anxiety attacks, but i have had feelings of needing to chew on something cause i was clenching my teeth. i was only depressed for about a day and a half. its fun, but i dont know if its worth it anymore.
  • Yes, it can. The side effects that I know of are brain damage from holes being eaten into it, anxity attacks, flash backs, confussion, depression, sleep problems, addiction, paranoia, memory loss, seratonian depleation, and psychotic episodes. I have also heard of heart failure and seizures. You can also never be sure what it has ben cut with. The most common substance used is rat poision. This is not a drug you want to mess with.
  • Taking it once isn't going to do much damage, because your brain will be able to handle replacing the lost serotonin. However, if you do it a lot, consecutively, you will become dependent, and it will start to eat holes in your brain and affect your nervous system, which can lead to seizures, muscle spasms, brain damage, heart failure, loss of sight, among other things. I've done it, myself, but only once.
  • Goodness yes it can cause Permanent Damage , type those words in Goggle and read it
  • My husband has a Ph.D. in Neuroscience/Biospychology and this is exactly what he studies (drug effects on the brain at the cellular and molecular level). As he has told me, ecstasy is THEE worst drug out there in terms of the amount of damage it inflicts on the brain (worse than crack or cocaine). I am compelled to share this with the members on this site as I have read and heard too many people poo-poo this fact away by saying, "Well, I did it once and I'm okay." The truth is you are NOT okay. Ecstasy starts to kill neurons the first time you take it. It destroys them by forcing the cell to continually spill out serotonin. So EVERY time you take ecstasy, you are killing neurons. Granted, it does not have the addictiveness of crack or cocaine, but it inflicts far more damage from using it once than you ever get from using either of those two drugs only once.
  • my daughter said she used ecstasy three days ago and she is so sick, like flu symptoms and has sores all over her face and head and neck...I am scared...she is having horrible mood swings...i am afraid she is going to kill herself one day...she is 25 years old and wont even listen to reason...does ecstasy cause flu symptoms, or could she be on something else?
  • I have taken e before but i spaced it out over a period of time. I only did it a few times a year for about 2 years and I stopped. I'm sad to say I did it for the first time in a long time just about 5 days ago and i feel horrible. I am really depressed and feel completley out of myself and dizzy. I have felt like this before once or twice from taking it and it took a while to go away. I just really want it to go away now. It's so irritating to feel this way. It scares me. It may be fun when your on it but I would not recomend trying it. It's not worth feeling this way afterwards. You can have fun without these drugs, trust me!!
  • well iv been taking mdma every weekend for over a year, i do a gram n a half to my self i have not experienced any problems with taking it apart frm being a bit tired the next day, my health is in perfect condition, as long as ur sensible with taking it then it should be fine.
  • i've done ecstasy about 17 times and i'm never doing it again. the last time i did it i did it two days in a row and ever since then i haven't felt the same. that was about a month ago almost. but i constantly feel anxious and like there's something missing. or there's a big whole in me that needs to be filled up and i just feel empty. when i'm with my friends i'll be laughing with them and then i just stop and get a really straight face and can't help it. so i try to laugh again but then i just look like i'm faking it. i have to try really hard just to act like my old self even with my really good friends and i think they've noticed. i don't like it. i suggest never doing it that often.
  • everything written here against E is incorrect cause im having E since a very long time. im a doctor myself and wat i have experienced is tht its all up there in ur mind . having a bad trip is a very common thing and ive been thru it as well. it really depends on the environment ur in, the circle ur in , the mood u've been having at the day ur popping the pill and ofcourse the kind of drug u're taking. E is not produced in a proper registered laboratory coz its illegal and the ppl who r making it are not proper chemists in every case . they are laymans just like every one of us and they get the formula thru internet n thru books and they start creating it . so wat is the exact quantity and the exact method of prepering E is only known to the professionals in this field and this is the reason y i feel that it varries a lot from kind to kind. the second thing is tht every single person has his own nature of mind so wat may effect good on me doesnt nessecerily effect good on anyone else (not even my closest frnd) so the hangovers the depression and the anxiety after taking E varries from person to person.. hangovers are also caused after taking alcohol and other drugs. the only bad thing after E is that some ppl crave for more, so called (dependency). ive been taking E since last 2yrs with the gap of 3 months in average and sometimes with a gap of 15 days to 30 days (depending on the availibility and mood) . i m perfectly alright and im not at all having any side effects as mentioned in different sites and by different ppl..
  • obviously E will cause permanent damage i take E almost weekly, and my memory's shot now but it's not as bad as people make it seem to be in the UK, only 7 out of 100,000 ppl die per year from it alcohol is somewhere like 400 out 100,000 and smoking is a lot higher.. a lot. it just depends on what you think is worse.. brain damage that doesn't make you mentally handicapped, or death. and the leading cause of death on E is dehydration, the second, is water poisoning i'm not saying E is a safe drug, not at all, it's terrible for you just realize that just because it's illegal, it doesn't mean it's the worst thing for you.. there is a lot of legal shit that is a lot worse for you than a cap of E ^^
  • I use to use E about 6 years ago. I will admit it was a lot of fun. I heard all the time that it was a "safe" drug you just have to use it right, etc. It has been about 6 years and the mental changes I have now since using E interfere with my life everyday; and make basic living a big challenge. My mental deficit is obvious not only to me but to people around me. Here are some of the problems I experience practically on a daily basis that were not there before I used E: Constantly forgetting chunks of things that happen, for example, someone handing me something and then having no memory recall of where I put it. This happens everyday... one example of how it is obvious is: I was at a friend's house and was helping her clean. I asked where the glass cleaner was, she told me, I got it, used it.. and asked her where I should put it since I was done with it (I honestly did not remember where I got it from a few minutes prior). ..Having something in my hand, then it is gone... having no recall of what happened to it... Living like this everyday is SUCH a challenge... even though doing E was fun; I now have to live with the long term adverse affects... I have trouble now with ordering basic priorities like eating, showering, cleaning, work, etc. Often one or more of these is grossly out of balance. Most of us have bills we pay on a regular basis (phone, cable, etc), and it is normal to forget to pay a bill or two once in a while; however I often, very often, actually forget that I have a cable bill or a phone bill. It is not as if I am someone out there who is wrapped up living a wild party life full of drugs. I have gone to rehab, I am now drug-free, I work a normal white-collar 9-5 job now, and quit the party scene. But the daily effects I experience are saddening for me... sometimes I feel like a big child... it takes so much work just to do basic life things. I also suffer now from what can be described as mental "ticks" (intrusive mental words that repeat in my mind, an urge to repeat a sound over and over or tap repeatedly - kind of like tourette's syndrome). I did not have this at all before I used extasy. These are not the only things I experience now, there are other negative things, but these are the ones that are the sharpest contrast to life before extacsy. I use to be able to remember my bills, and handle basic normal life things without any type of "huge challenge"... now most of my mental energy is spent on figuring out how to do basic things consistantly. *I do want to add a disclaimer, at that time I did use other drugs sparingly like marjuanna and cocaine around the same time (not while using extascy), and after extasy use I was on some drugs to treat depression.. I only used extasy somewhere between 1-10 times, there were times when I would overdose on extascy, keep taking tablets after starting to come down off of rolling to come back up, and a couple of times I took more clinical meds than necessary... I am sure this affected me also..., but it is not uncommon to have long term adverse mental/brain issues after using extasy... and I am pretty certain a lot of the issues I spoke about that I have now are a result of using E, since that was the illicit drug I used the hardest. I would stay away from it. All the times that I rolled and experienced "emotional extasy" can not make up for the mental functioning I now lack.... the thing is, you don't know what using it may do to you personally... and the results can be lasting... you should stay away from drugs period - they can alter your brain permanently and make functioning in daily life so much more complicated and difficult... there are natural ways to feel good without using drugs.... hanging out with people you can really appreciate, listing to and singing your heart out to your favorite music, having clean spontaneous fun, finding or working on a hobby you really love, finding out about Jesus and getting into a fulfilling relationship with Him.. these things can give you fullness and deep happiness. Drugs give you physical happiness but end up destroying you and your quality of life in the process. There are clean and good ways to have a lot of fun and to cope with life. God bless.
  • All ecstasy does is it forces serotonin and burns. Take a break for a while and your brain will produce the serotonin again. The break should be around 2-3 weeks. All this talk about blindness, hair loss, organ failures is bullshit. I roll regularly and I feel fine. All you need is enough serotonin to build up for your next roll. Ecstasy also builds habits. Whatever you do while you're rolling, you'll do it once your done too. Habits are easy to break... not a problem. Finally, my philosophy: "Drugs are fun, it can do damage but it's better to live a short and fun life then to live a long and boring life."
  • no, e cant be manufactured in a safe environment bc it needs to be laced with somethin in order for you to get the desired effects... i.e. rat poison
  • i would just lock to agree with mondaay. It only takes one. I took 6 the other day and had seizures the next day very painful. And also with the balance and vision, i have permanet air static. But truley like mondaay said the depression is much more dangerous, if permanent. i stayed up all night that night and i thought i was fine, until i started falling over. I mean waking up with anxiety liek that and depression, i understand how fucking bad it sucks and then your angry at yourself maybe cause like wtf did i do that for? So just know shit is cripling, deadly, not a fucking joke. Please just smoke and be happy thats all i can say. And dont relapse, you think your all healthy again... one more cant hurt. Shit will fucking put you right back to where you didnt want to be but this time a little more in the hole. PS IT WILL MAKE U SMOKE UR STASH lol very not cool...
  • I took a lot of Ecstasy in pill form when I was younger and ended up stopping because I found the positive effects wore off after a while . Recently I tried MDMA in pure crystal form, the first couple of times were brilliant and I experienced no come-down period, however recently I have began experiencing severe anxiety attacks, mood swings, depression and insomnia as well as sleep paralysis, vertigo/ dizziness and nightmares for periods as long as 2 weeks after taking it. I now suffer from anxiety or panic attacks regularly and believe drugs like E's, amphetamines and weed have caused my body to react in this way. My advice would be to listen to your body, if you are experiencing side affects stop doing drugs before they cause permanent damage.
  • man i would'nt mess with the stuff, it's bad very bad i can't concentrate very well think or remember anything. i had like 20 doses last week. it makes life a pain.
  • NO. You guys are bias, you watch too much media. Believe the science and actual researches being done about it. It DOES NOT cause permanent damage. But it damages the brain TEMPORARILY but the brain depletes back to normal or comes fully back to normal in 30 to 60 days. The chemicals in the body stays until 48 hours but the seratonin lost in the brain depletes back in a month. That it why it is not advisable to take Ecstasy more than once a month. It can be but it would be better if you get longer intervals. Don't let the governement and media brain wash you. Do some proper researches not just google or youtube or yahooanswers.
  • The side effects of taking X are depression, anxiety, loss of appetite, pain, mood swings,Can it cause permanent damage yes to your brain, causes memory loss, throws you cordination off, very bad for you. My finace cousin is in the hospital because of it, he took to many one night, he has been in the hospital for a little bit over a month. long time usage for him caused his aneurysm to burst he was in a coma for 2days, he still has a tube in his head draining the blood out he is only 25 he will now suffer from short term memory loss if you ask him who he is it takes him about 5 minutes to answer you, he thinks that he was on a plane and the pilot gave them to him he called them rhinos, if you ask him why he is the hospital he tells you i don't know these cops won't let me leave these bastards. You know why he took them and became addicted to them because the whore he is with told him he would perform better in bed. Nice Huh!!!
  • ye thers a few side affects. the short term side affects i know from experience are while ur rolling, you can experience eye wiggles, which most ppl hate but i love. Also while ur rolling you cud experience sweating, and hallucinations with high amounts, also i can NEVER eat while im rolling. I take one bite of food, move it around in my mouth then throw it away.. just turns you off from food. One in every 5000 pill is a bad pill so u dont have a very high chance AT ALL of dieing from taking one pill. If you take a pill on friday, then take 2 more on saturday, then take more on sunday, your serotonin levels in ur brain will be really messed up. Because when you take E, all the serotonin in the brain is shot all over the body, and it takes about 2 weeks 2 recover back 2 normal, 3 weeks it will definetely be back 2 normal. So if you take one pill every 2 or 3 weeks, you shud be good 2 go. Some more common side affects is the comedown. this only happens with certain pills though. Its when your buzz is going away you become very depressed or pissed off because ur losing ur buzz. This can make u FREAK OUT at your best friends because a lot can annoy you while your coming down. Another is that the next day after doing it, you feel like a piece of shit and dont want to do anything atall. Also on only a scatter few pills you cannot eat the whole day after taking it. Also with a scatter few kinds you cannot sleep for up 2 24 hours after popping it. thats about it wait, and im pretty sure it cant cause permanent damage UNLESS u do it frequently and become a pillhead. good luck, hope i was help
  • Im 20 years old ,and since last year, ive done atleast 150 pills...whenever i do it,i dont do one or tw0..at least 6....my biggest binge was back in april, were me and 2 of my buddys went out of town..and i had 80 pills on me...we finished it in 2 days..we never slept, ate, rarely went to the urinal.the last time that i rolled was actually last night..i did 7 and im actully still coming down as i type. The main thing that concerns me is my loss of memory, sometimes paranoid,my eyesight has gone down,my back really hurts, and i feel depressed..but i do smoke ganja like everyday...like 4 to 8 joints a day.i cant eat without blazin,I love Weed!
  • I have not touched pills for nearly 5months now .After 12months or more of pill popping every weekend. It started off with only having half to end with at least 10 a weekend. They most definatly do effect your brain moods and abilty to make normal life decisions. The dependancy like with most drugs is less of a physical one more of a physcological one .I am a better person on pills.I have more fun on pills.Pills help me relax forget about my problems. It is all bullshit.Nothing that you feel or experiance on pills is real.Your relationships are fake your emotions are fake.If you are happy to continue living in a fantisy word by all means go ahead .But it will come crashing down.
