    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

    Getting Started

Measure the duvet cover where you will add the cording. Add 9 inches to allow for corners and overlap. Use clear tape, and wrap it around one end of the cording to keep the cording from fraying while you are working on the cover.

    Sewing

Thread a sewing or quilting needle with thread to match the cording and knot the end. Starting at the bottom of the duvet cover, tack the untaped end in place. Wrap the thread several times 1/2 inch from the end, bringing the thread through the duvet cover with each wrap to tack the end securely. Pin the next foot or two of cording in place. Whip stitch around the cording and into the cover, pushing the needle through the cover and back up on the opposite side of the cording. Place stitches about 1/4 inch apart. Continue pinning and stitching in turn.

    Finishing

Trim the cording so it extends an inch past the beginning. Tuck the end of the cording under the inch you skipped at the beginning. Using the needle, wrap the thread around the cording, catching the duvet cover in each wrap until the end is secured.
