In the vulture-ridden canyons of southern Patagonia in Argentina, a villager has dug up the bones of what may be the largest dinosaur species ever uncovered. Local paleontologists told Reuters news agency that the dinosaur was probably 51 metres (167 feet) long, beating its current rival for hugeness, the 100-tonne Argentinosaurus by eight metres (26 feet). The estimated size of this new gargantuan herbivore was based on two cervical 1.2 metre-long vertebrae, a two-metre long femur, and other 'indicative bones.'
