I've got my navel pierced a few months ago. Recently I found a small, hard purple knot under my skin. Could this be an abscess? What should I do?

it could, although it doesnt sound like it. an abcess would be hot, red (not purple) and painful, with some pus. it sounds more like a little bit of scar tissue, the bodies normaly response to the little hole you've had made in the skin. its should diminish with time as it fully heals, but if you do notice any changes (like pus, or pain) then treat it with some antispetic, such as salt water washes.

No an abscess is painful, if it bothers you, you could probably ask a doctor to remove it.
