  • One of the most recognised symbols of peace is the dove. It's origins are from the story of noah and the ark. When the rains that flooded the earth stopped pouring down, noah sent out various birds to see if they would bring back any sign of land to his boat. He was anxious to begin life again on dry pasturage. One dove eventually returned carrying an olive branch. After world war II pablo picasso, was responsible for the decisive use of the dove of peace : his lithograph designed for the international peace congress in paris, 1949, features the white ancestor of a new family of doves. Since then, graphic artists have produced an endless series of doves of peace in different shapes. See Picasso's Lithograph here: http://www.designboom.com/contemporary/peace.html
  • The dove as the "symbol of peace" is an astronomical sign, for sure,as is the story of noahs ark.when the equinox had passed into the sign of"ichthys the fish, sign of pisces" later enacted by certain church "elders" to represent jesus and or his gospels in one form or another.in the sky,it was the place where horus recieved his soul of pubesence, the ruach. as far as the story of noahs ark story, thats a no brainer, and i qoute"the book of genesis" says of the flood that"all the high hills that were under the whole heaven were covered, taken literally, this seems to indicate that there were 10,000 to 20,000 feet of water on the suface of the earth, equivalent to more than half a billion cubic miles of liquid! since accordingto biblical accounts,it rained for forty days/nights,or for only 960 hours, the rain must have fallen at a rate of at least 15 feet per hour, certainly enough to sink any aircraft carrier, much less a wooden ark with thousands of animalson board" john allen paulos in his book"innumeracy".
