  • Tell him or her that she's distracting you.
  • Just ignore them it's a skill worth learning, it can be done politely...tell them you'll catch up a bit later but you have to ignore them for a while to focus on the job at hand.
  • Just tell them you have to get your work done. If it is a continuous problem, and you are at your desk, just start doing your work. They'll get the hint... eventually.
  • It can be difficult, but I've been in the position where a coworker generally liked me, but needed to stop chatting to me to get her work done. She tried to give me subtle hints, most of which ended up me thinking she didn't like me, but then I realised that actually, she just had more work to do than me, and needed to get on with it. So from the position of the chatty coworker, if you like the person, but they are intefering with your work, just be up front and tell them you need to get on with your work. That will stop any misunderstandings, and they will (hopefully) be grateful that you were honest.

  • ignore them, or if you're not that big of a b!tch, give them short answers or just pretend to be busy.
  • I had a coworker like that....he could NEVER shut up! I had to get out my note book and start writing....LOT!!!! He eventually got tired of blabbing and asking me questions and me ignoring him...then he eventually stopped.
