Volcanoes are a good answer. In modern times, the largest eruption created an air pressure wave (sound) that travelled around the world TWICE, -so say the scientist that measured it.- Granted, at a great distance it may have been below the level of perception. (Otherwise, I'd have said my college dorm-mate's stereo would have been almost as loud.)
