The best books do not provide answers, they raise questions and provoke thought. The reader then reaches his own conclusions, which may or may not take the form of answers. The process of finding the answers is as important as the answers themselves. The most thought-provoking author I have read is Milan Kundera, I would recommend reading any of "The Book of Laughter and Forgetting", "The Joke", "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" and "Immortailty" and seeing if they can help you make some sense of human emotion, social sitautions and the nature of living itself.
