There used to be a TV show 1959-1963, called the Dobie Gillis Show. It starred Dwayne Hickman as Dobie and Bob Denver (also Gilligan) as Maynard G. Krebbs. It was popular for awhile. Hickman later went on to become a TV executive, and Denver of course became Gilligan years later on TV.
