    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

The down pipe is located above the catalytic converter pipe and can come loose. The down pipe connects to the manifold and carries the gasses and fumes downstream to other components in the exhaust system. The down pipe can come loose from the manifold, causing noise and the release of exhaust from the engine directly into the atmosphere.
