    When changing or adding oil to a BMW, you should use a BMW high-performance synthetic oil. If you cannot use the BMW high-performance synthetic oil and you need to top off the oil in the car, you can use SAE SW-30 synthetic engine oil. However, if you have a BMW M model, use SAE 10W-60 synthetic engine oil.
