    Philo is located at (40.005359, -88.156483). According to the village's water tower, Philo '''IS''' also located at the center of the universe.

    According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 2.0 km sq (0.8 square miles), all land.

    Philo was named after the founder Philo Hale. The main park, which is used for numerous functions including reserved space for family reunions, located on the north end of the village is named after the founder (Hale Park)
