Om, also spelled "Aum," is a sacred Hindu sound symbolizing the Absolute. It often is used as a mantra during meditation. Im hindu , in " Bhagwat Geeta " which is religious hindu books , OM means " atma " that is soul. There is a common chanting called "mantra" associated with om " om namah shivay" that means , i the soul bow to god shiva.
