Fill the pan with enough lukewarm, soapy water to cover the burnt on mess and allow the pan to sit for an hour. Move the pan to the stove and turn the burner on high. Bring the water to a boil, and keep the water boiling for ten to fifteen minutes. Remove the pan from heat and allow the water to cool to a temperature comfortable to the touch.
Scrub the pan with a nylon scouring pad in the sink. Wash the pan again with warm, soapy water. Dry the pan. If there are still remnants of food on the pan, repeat the process until it is entirely clean.
