  • It depends. Some e-commerce sites track the IP address (a unique Internet address assigned to each computer by an ISP) of the computer used to place the computer. If this is the case in this instance, the site could determine the IP address of the computer used to place the order. With this information, they could contact the ISP that provides Internet access to that computer and could obtain contact information (address, phone number, name, etc) for the client who purchases Internet services from the ISP.
