According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 12.9 km sq (5.0 square miles). 12.8 km sq (5.0 mi sq) of it is land and 0.20% is water. The most important river in Galion is the Olentangy RiverOlentangy, which winds southward toward Columbus, OhioColumbus and eventually empties into the Scioto River.
