Its probably possible. but not the wisest..besides the fact that you could really injure yourself if not careful. but if your dance teacher advises you not to start pointe yet he/she is probably right.it is a lot harder than some make it out to be, lots of hard work is involved..

Again, it is not advised to teach yourself pointe, but if you know the basic techniques of ballet you can do anything. But if you want to teach yourself you have to start at the beginnning with rises and plie's. It would be just like learning ballet all over again except on point. When you get to channe' turns peiroettes, and pique turns, make sure you take them step by step so you don't injure yourself. Also make sure you have enough room to do this. If there is a community gym or a dance studio that you could go to, I would advise seeking an open area to practice.

There is a way, though not wise to do, there is a way. If you've had previous ballet training of at least 3 years, then it's probably possible. Start out with simple eleves with your pointe shoes and make sure you are using the technique you've learnt. After you can effortlessly rise onto pointe passing through the demi-pointe position, work on balance. Simple combinations that end up in balances (the action of balancing without holding on to anything) will do. Once you are comfortable with this, move onto center and try simple pique turns, and chaines. Eventually move onto begger steps. Again, please make sure you use the technique you've learned. It's probably good to have a dance teacher supervise your first few lessons, after that you can do it on your own. I have a link you can go to get some tips for pointe work. Just click on the video you would like to see. http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=lisahowell2

It's not very good to teach yourself pointe, unless you've been taking (normal) ballet for at least 3 years, and your dance teacher says that you're ready for pointe. But, there is a way to teach yourself. Make sure you don't hurt yourself though, because it is very dangerous if you go en pointe without a dance teacher with you.

NO! Anyone who attempts that without proper training, floors, fittings and years of ballet experience is just plain stupid!
