    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

Since cats typically go into heat just one or two months after giving birth, they can become pregnant again while still feeding kittens. To prevent the arrival of another litter, keep your cat inside, away from unneutered males. While nursing mothers can be spayed, consider waiting until the kittens are weaned so the entire family can be spayed/neutered at the same time.

my female just got done having kittens 7 weeks ago.. 4 out of 5 kittens are weaned and have new homes and one is left, still nursing slightly 1- 2 times a day.. she just came in heat today.. so yes if they come in heat they can get pregnant even if nursing.. the vet said 3 weeks after lactating and milk dried up is the time for spaying..
