    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

According to Soya, a website dedicated to information about soy and soya products, "Soybean oil is often hydrogenated to increase its shelf life or to produce a more solid product." Hence, soybean oil is sometimes, but not always hydrogenated. Hydrogenation is a process through which hydrogen is added to the molecules of a compound. In soybean oil, it can result in unhealthy trans fats.
