Polygraph tests are not allowed in criminal cases. Law enforcement is not required to administer a lie detector test at all. Therefore there is no time frame in which they "must" administer one. Lie detector tests MAY be used as an investgative tool, with the consent of the testee, but the results of the test itself can not be used in court.
