    Great Answer

    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

Proper business attire for women has changed only slightly despite the ever-changing fashion climate. Though it can vary from company to company, appropriate business attire is always a classic and polished look that will never go out of style.

    Skirt Suits

Skirt suits in black, grey, navy or brown are still the first choice for suit colors in the business world. Be sure that your skirt is the proper length and fit. Avoid tight or excessively short skirts in the workplace. The goal is to be conservative and professional.

    Blouses

Wear a long-sleeved blouse in case you need to remove your jacket. In most cases, short sleeves are distracting and not permitted in upper level positions.
Avoid busy patterns and stick to neutrals in silk or cotton. Simple collars are best although it is okay to wear a blouse with an attached bow.

    Shoes

Wear a pump with a comfortable heel of about two inches. Choose a color that coordinates with your handbag or brief case such as navy, black, burgundy or brown. Avoid busy patterns here as well. Also, avoid strappy sandals completely.

    Pantyhose

Coordinate your pantyhose with your suit--if you choose to wear hose at all. For example if you wear a light-colored suit, wear light-colored hose.

According to the Wall Street Journal during an unofficial survey, pantyhose are now optional and no longer considered a must for professional attire. Approximately 75 percent of large companies do not require women to wear pantyhose.

    Jewelry and Accessories

Keep jewelry to a minimum. You should wear no more than two finger rings, a watch and an optional bracelet. Keep large or dangling jewelry out of the office. Remember to remove any extra earrings or piercing jewelry, including non-traditional piercings such as nose, labret or eyebrow.

A small scarf that coordinates with the outfit is fine for the office and you should keep the colors muted and natural.

A wool skirt suit with a jacket like a man's in colors a bit lighter than those of men's suits; a blouse cut like a man's dress shirt that can be brighter colors than men's shirts but should be in one solid color or conservative pinstripes; pumps in solid black with moderate heels are safest; rather transparent hose; and a minimum of jewelry. A dress watch is simple and gold with leather strap, so leave steel diving and chronograph models at home. The Cartier "Tank" is a classic thta is always fine. Men wear ties with their suits, but ladies don't.
