Help answer this question below.
Much has been written about the ability of the possibility of curing diabetes through eating certain types of foods. Dr. Robert Atkins and others, such as Dr. Richard Bernstein, famously tout their diets as cures for diabetes and suggest that some people, by following their diets can completely cure diabetes and obviate the need for medications.
The reason why diets so often fail is that people have trouble sticking to them. Real life gets in the way and makes it difficult to always avoid certain types of foods. In addition, both Dr. Atkins and Dr. Bernstein admit that if diabetes has progressed too far, there is no way to completely cure it with food. Medicine would still be required to control the disease.
If you've just been diagnosed with diabetes, changing your eating habits can help. Even if it doesn't cure your diabetes completely, the reality is that by eating a healthier diet, you can minimize the damage caused by the disease and avoid the need for ever more powerful drugs.
