    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

In 1965, Dr. Dana Shires, Dr. Robert Cade, Dr. H. James Free and Dr. Alejandro de Quesada were the main inventors of Gatorade at the University of Florida. They worked with an assistant football coach to find a better way to keep players hydrated during games. It was successful, giving the team staying power in the heat.
