    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

On One Hand: Medication is Allowed

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has a bevy of rules regarding what is and isn't an acceptable carry-on item. If you are traveling with medication, pack it as carry-on; because mishaps have been known to happen with checked luggage. Although the TSA restricts carrying on most liquids, medication is among the exceptions and can be carried on board an airplane.

On the Other: Rules Must Be Followed

If you are traveling with diabetes medication, pack your medication in a clear plastic bag with a copy of your prescription and declare it at the security checkpoint. The name on the prescription must match the name on the boarding pass. Failure to follow these guidelines can result in delays and/or tossed medication.

    Bottom Line

TSA guidelines allow you to carry diabetic medication on an airplane, however, certain procedures must be followed when doing so.
