Help answer this question below.
Fifth-wheel trailers are high-profile vehicles that require careful handling. The wind can either blow into the side of the trailer and simply push it over; or it can push the trailer to one side, causing the driver to overcompensate to the other side. Sherline Products says that this can create enough centrifugal force to tip the trailer onto its side. Sherline also notes that winds don't have to be very strong to affect a high-profile fifth-wheel trailer--30 miles per hour will do it. You can lessen your chances of your fifth wheel flipping over in high winds by taking precautions. Drive slowly, and if the situation is too much for you, stop driving. The Fun Times Guide says that parking under an overpass can shield you somewhat, but it's better to find a parking lot where you can park the trailer so that it's facing into the wind, so the wind isn't hitting the side of the trailer. It is possible for wind to cause a fifth wheel to flip onto its side. Always proceed with caution through known windy areas, and stop driving if you find yourself in an unmanageable situation.
