"Of Mice and Men" is written about people living in the Salinas Valley, which is where Steinbeck lived.
Steinbeck admitted in the 1930s that the book was written to demonstrate human behavior. His interpretation of human behavior gives the book is lifelike and therefore many people can relate to one, if not multiple, characters.
"Of Mice and Men" shows how hard of a life migrant workers actually had. Steinbeck's depiction makes you feel for the characters in the story and leaves an impact on you.
