I would say all you need is straight A's. I don't think people in movies are the brightest apple on the tree

As you can see on Harvard's admissions website: http://www.admissions.college.harvard.edu/prospective/applying/stats/index.html Harvard had more than 27,000 applicants for 1658 spaces in their freshman class. The 27,000 applicants were mostly very well qualified. Thousands of applicants are turned away despite 4.0 averages, perfect SAT's, and being class presidents, etc. In ADDITION to such qualifications as 4.0 averages and perfect SAT's, those admitted to Harvard often have such qualifications as: Five or more years experience in a professional career such as acting. Being part of a royal family. Having a patented invention. Being captain of the football team. Having started a charity that's building a school in Sub-Saharan Africa. One thing that is NOT presumed is the ability to pay. Harvard guarantees qualified admitted students can attend regardless of their financial circumstances, even if they require 100% tuition subsidy.

Yes, Harvard is a hard school to get into. That is why it is amazing that Obama got in with less than stellar grades. Personally, I think more of MIT from a purely academic standpoint.
