The Series 7 exam, also known as the General Securities Representative exam, is widely regarded as lengthy and comprehensive. It consists of 250 questions divided into two, three-hour sessions. It is considered difficult because it covers not only basic stock-market concepts, but also lesser-known ones like stock options.
With about a 70 percent passing rate, the odds are in favor of the test-takers. This is because even though the covered material is certainly comprehensive, it is also widely available. Previous test-takers say that as long as the material is learned beforehand, there won't be any surprises on the actual exam.
The Series 7 exam is certainly a difficult one, but it is predictable. Its relatively high passing rate is an excellent indication that it should neither be fretted over nor taken lightly.
