    The record is 7 by the following teams:

    Yankees vs. Philadelphia on August 14, 1942
    Houston vs. Giants on May 4, 1969
    Braves vs. Reds on June 27, 1982 in 14 innings
    Cardinals vs. Pittsburgh on June 16, 1994 in 10 innings.

    The record for both teams is 10 when the Twins made 6 and the Red Sox added 4 on July 18, 1990.

    Also in extra inning games the following teams made 10 total double plays:

    Braves made 5 and the Reds made 5 on June 7, 1925 in 12 innings
    Reds made 6 and the Giants made 4 on May 1, 1955 in 16 innings
    Giants made 6 and the Mets made 4 on August 21, 2004 in 12 inings.
