I believe the capital is Sydney. Other than that I would have to do an internet search and look it all up. Sorry, I was never very good at geography.

I know that the capital is Canberra but couldn't name many states or territories without actually researching them (which I assume you don't want people to do in order to find out what people know).

The capital is Canberra. There are several states. New South Wales Queensland And...um...I did know others.

The capital is Canberra, which I believe is also its own small territory. Beyond that I am clutching at straws a little... I'm not entirely sure what the difference between a state and a territory is in Aussie terms, but I know the following exist - New South Wales, Queensland, Northern Territories, West Australia and Victoria. I expect there is one more in the middle where Alice Springs and Uluru are, but I don't know its name. Are they the 6 states? HELP!!!

7 or 8. Mainland Australia has 7 namely Western Australia, Northern territory, south australia, Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and Australian Capital territory of which Canberra is the capital. but I feel Tasmania is also a territory. My daughter lives in Queensland so have tried to learn some of the country's geography Nuala, London
