Help answer this question below.

I have a 2003 pontiac grand am v6. first the key would not turn off. i finally got it to turn off then it would not turn at all. the steering wheel is not locked and the gear shift is firmly in park. my friend who is a carpenter sprayed wd 40 in the ignit

    Try turning the wheel (take the preasure off) then turn the key

    I ordered new keys for $12 and it worked when mine did it. The key had totally quit turning, and before that you had to jiggle it to work.

    As stated above the Ignition cylinder, the part where you put the key has more than likly failed, and sprayed wd-40 wont really do anything, what happends is the pins inside there break and thats why it was hard to get the key out.

    they have a bad problem with the ignition cylinders sticking like that. ( most all gm products who use this type of dash mounted cylinder do). you need to have it replaced and reprogramed to get it to work.
