No doubt you WILL lose weight. Good cardio exercise causes your body to increase it's metabolism. Not only do you burn calories while exercising, but also while resting throughout the remainder of the day.

The weight training builds muscle tissue which also burns more calories.

You are totally on the right track. Just don't get it in your head to starve yourself, because your body will respond by reducing it's metabolism to protect itself from starvation. Eat a good diet, and the exercise will do the rest.

Dieting = reduced metabolism (making it progressively harder to lose weight)
Exercise = increased metabolism (what you want)

I started a light and slow jog on the treadmill, with it set to approximately 4-4.5 MPH. At this speed, I worked up to 2 miles over a 1 month period. I then slowly ramped up the treadmill speed to a level where I could run 2 miles while still feeling I was getting a good workout.

From the start, I adjusted my diet. I was kind of doing a half-assed Adkins diet, cutting back on carbs and doing a meat and salad meal. It also helped me to cut out one meal per day. If I ate lunch, I didn't eat dinner. If I was planning to eat dinner, I skipped lunch, but had a lighter dinner.

I lost a little over 58 pounds in about 9 months.

yes -- but be careful - a lot of exercise stimulates the appetite, and working with weights builds muscle tissue, which is heavier than fat -- just don't forget to count your calories.
