  • Some lotions that contain a lot of alcohol are notorious for causing the stinging bumps that you refer to. Or it could be some other ingredient that doesn't agree with your skin. I tend to have the same problem with heavily fragranced lotions. Try using something like Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion. Could be razor burn too, see http://www.answerbag.com/q_view.php/5254
  • Just a P.S. to that answer, but I was reading in a skin book, that those red bumps we commonly refer to as razor burn, is in fact a staff infection.
  • Same thing used to happen for me. Baby lotion might work or what i used to do was when i was in the shower i would put baby oil on then slightly rinse it of so it wont be oily (but dont rub it off with the towel it will cause the burn and bumps).i've also found that when putting the lotion on, instead of rubbing it on in the opposite direction of hair growth put it on going downwards it really helped! also try Dove Regenerating Night Lotion.
  • I had this problem for a while, try these, it works for me: - Instead of commercial body lotion use Aqueaous Cream- you'll normally find it in the babycare section of chemists/ drugstores and some supermarkets. It contains no perfume or alcohol so its very unlikely your skin will react to it. - Apply whilst your skin is still damp, part of the job of moisturiser is to hold moisture in, so you'll be helping the job along. - Use a fresh blade every time you shave. Try using a razor designed specifically for women with senstive skin (e.g Gillette Venus) -Use hair conditioner instead of soap or shaving foam- a tip I picked up from my sister, it helps the blade to glide more smoothly over the skin, causing less irritation
