Anti-Super Bowl parties can be thrown at home. Households with two televisions may have a Super Bowl party in one room and an anti-Super Bowl party in another.
Some bars, clubs or restaurants will have anti-Super Bowl parties. They are usually centered around nonsports-related themes.
Because anti-Super Bowl parties usually have a nonsports theme, the food is often more upscale. Burgers and chips are bypassed for fancy finger sandwiches and gourmet dips. Beers are exchanged for martinis or wine.
When anti-Super Bowl parties are themed, those themes are nonsports-related. Favorite TV shows, movies and pampering are common themes for these parties.
Formal invitations can be sent, but most opt for more informal invitations. Word of mouth or electronic-invite systems are often used to inform guests about party details.
