You should listen to your friends. They may see a side of him that you don't. Love can blind you, after all. With that said, it's ultimately your decision what you do. Consider that if he cheated once, he may cheat again. It's also possible you won't be able to trust him again, or won't be able to stop resenting him for what he did.
Only you can know for sure, but I think this is something you should give serious thought to, even if you need to take some time apart to do it. Whatever you decide, you should confront him and tell him you know he is cheating.
