My husband had that problem. His was a combination of sleep apnea and anxiety. I figure the anxiety was in some measure caused by waking up fifty times a night because he'd stopped breathing: the feeling of suffocation will definitely produce anxiety. I diagnosed the apnea and a sleep study confirmed it. A cpap machine dealt with the apnea and when that didn't completely solve the problem, they gave him a tiny dose of an anti-anxiety medication which solved the rest of it. He sleeps like a baby now.
See a sleep specialist.
Depression (early morning waking is typical of some types of depression), and it sounds like alcohol dependency too. See a counsellor or therapist, and your doctor and tell them honestly about it. You can feel a lot better than you do - start talking to people who can help.
You worry too much
What are you thinking about???
Something could be bothering your conscience....what have you done lately that you regret?
My father-in-law has the same problem, you may be suffering from a type of insomnia.. You should see a Dr. though b/c lack of sleep can lead to many problems!
I don't drink at all and I have the same trouble. Other times I can't go to sleep until the wee hours of the morning. It is terribly irritating to know you need sleep and not be able to get it.
because you are full of life enjoy it and do good ?
While alcohol can help you get to sleep it will cause you to wake up early as well. If you abstain you will have to go through a few days of withdrawal before you can get a decent rest.
Stop drinking for at least a week.

You're reading I can't sleep well, I think too much and when I do get to sleep I wake up real early. Why is that?

That is really good. Yeah, I might just do something like that.
Thanks.
