  • yes, we always rely on long distance stuff...
  • Yes I definately think it has and it is getting worse with each generation Soon we will just be brains and skeletal as all our muscles atrophy.
  • In my opinion, yes. There seems to be a strong relation between the recent advent of the games console and the wider use of the internet and increased percentages of childhood obesity. That is waht Nintendo were aiming to stop by launching the Wii. However, all it takes is disciplined parenting to promote a healthy balance between video games and exercise. Even getting your child to join a sports team will help a lot
  • well being a level 20 AB expert u shud really answer that urself. but IMO? yes it definitely has. nowadays its all just ps2, xbox live, msn (biggie), MMORPGs, and plain old online PC gaming. there aint that many kids out there playin ball anymore.
  • Yes, to a point. With access to transport readily available to more and more people, with buses, trains etc, and the increasing number of people who own cars themselves, the need to walk distances in many countries is almost non-existent. Note, this is different to the want to twalk - if I want a bit of a stroll I will walk into town rather than driving. But overall, the need to get exercise is far less than it has ever been during daily living, hence the rising levels of heart disease and stroke, which until the twentieth century always played second fiddle to infectious diseases such as TB and cholera as being the biggest killers. Now that CHD has become the biggest killer in many countires, there is much more public awareness of signs, symptoms, risk factors, the health implications of bad diets and lack of exercise, and people are now starting to make lifestyle changes to rectify this in a manner not seen before, with more and more people joining gyms, going in their lunch breaks, drinking slim fast rather than fish and chips and so on. So, with the increasing availability of technologies such as rowing machines, treadmills and exercise bikes become cheaper and more available, the balance is slowly being redressed, but the balance is still hugely on technology being bad for our lazy lifestyle.
  • Walk into any gym - it is full of modern technology just to perform physical activity.
  • I'm not sure...just let me ask Google and I'll get back to you. After I've had a lie down.
  • Absolutely. I am occupying my free time right now (on the computer) rather than hiking, or doing some other physical activity.
