  • I agree. I have NO idea. I'm not a christian, so the Jesus risen thing is out, and I have no small kids, so the easter bunny thing is out, too. *yawn*...
  • Perhaps because Lent has just ended...? It was never a big party in my family, and I don't celebrate it at all now, except for decorating eggs with the kids.
  • Actually it's the most joyful day of the Holy Week. Easter Sunday marks the resurrection of Christ. I'm not that familiar with the way the U.S. and other countries celebrate it, but I know it's very different from what I'm accustomed to. (Easter Bunny, etc.)
  • im chinese. i dont celebrate easter, or thanksgiving, or (in the case of really really traditional chinese families but not mine) even christmas.
  • Because Jesus has risen from the dead! He opened the gates of heaven so that after we day we can live together with Him and God, all the Angels and Saints, and all those that have died before us that went to heaven. The only thing I disagree with Easter is all the stores that are trying to commercialize it like they do Christmas. Even though I live in the US, we don't get into Easter Bunny, baskets, candy, presents, etc. on Easter. We go to church and gather with family and just enjoy the day.
  • I don't know about other cultures, but in the United States Easter is celebrated for two reasons...the christian point of view,Jesus died and rose from the dead,or because of the fact that "estar" was a greek god of fertility HINT....The bunny rabbit. Even with those two reasons it is basically just an excuse for kids to eat candy and receive gifts.
  • because Jesus rose from the dead
  • We don't. It's just a day in which we can gorge chocolate without others batting an eyelid.
  • For the same reason that people celebrate Christmas with a big party and by spending lots of money they don't have to give presents to people they don't even like, who don't want what they get or get what they don't want from people they don't like either
  • It is a celebration of our salvations through the Lord Jesus Christ, even if most of the world has forggotten that. Don't really know how a rabbit and eggs got into the picture. Probobly somthing pagan like almost every other Christian holiday.
  • It is the greatest holiday of the year to a Christian because it is a celebration of Jesus being alive, not dead, that is the day that he arose from the dead.
