<h4 class="dechead">On One Hand: Torque Cones Improve Back Pressure
A torque cone is a hollow, conically shaped piece of metal that you install in the top end of your exhaust. That means between the exhaust manifold and the pipes. This device at one time was known as a resistor, and its purpose is to increase back pressure and thereby improve performance of the bike.
On the Other: They Make the Bike Quieter
The torque cones, while improving performance, do quiet down the bike. You may also have problems with the computer. This means that either you or a technician will have to manually tweak the computer. This can be costly and the do-it-yourself job easily messed up.
Bottom Line
If you install torque cones, you can expect enhanced performance. If you like the roar that lets people know your bike is around, stay away from them.
